Check with the fine folks at Golden Witch - There was a gentleman employed by them who went by the name of Ye Olde Angler or something like that. He made wood
rods, horse hair line and leaders, basically does fishing presentations as to how people fished in the 1800's

Charles Cotton Esq., who in 1657 claimed that a fisherman who cannot land a 1 lb. trout with a horsehair leader with a 1 (one) hair tip - is not to be called
